KCM Boots – Boot Care & Cleaning Guide
Cowhide leather boots are built to last for years with proper care. Regular cleaning and conditioning will help maintain the leather’s durability, color, and natural appearance.
Follow the steps below to keep your KCM Boots looking their best.
Routine Cleaning
To remove dirt and dust from your boots:
Use a soft brush or dry cloth to remove loose dirt and debris.
Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth if needed.
Allow the boots to air dry naturally.
Avoid soaking the leather in water, as excessive moisture can damage natural leather fibers.
Conditioning the Leather
Cowhide leather can dry out over time, especially with regular wear.
To maintain the leather:
Apply a quality leather conditioner every few months.
Use a soft cloth to apply a small amount evenly across the leather.
Allow the conditioner to absorb before wearing the boots.
Conditioning helps keep the leather soft, flexible, and resistant to cracking.
Protecting Your Boots
To protect your boots from the elements:
Use a leather protector or water-repellent spray designed for natural leather.
Avoid prolonged exposure to rain, snow, or excessive moisture.
If boots get wet, allow them to dry naturally at room temperature.
Never use direct heat sources such as heaters or hair dryers to dry leather boots.
Storage Tips
Proper storage helps extend the life of your boots.
We recommend:
Storing boots in a cool, dry place
Using boot trees or inserts to help maintain shape
Keeping boots away from direct sunlight or extreme heat
Dealing With Scratches
Minor scratches and scuffs are normal with genuine leather.
To reduce their appearance:
Gently rub the area with a soft cloth.
Apply a small amount of leather conditioner.
Over time, cowhide leather develops a natural patina, giving each pair of boots a unique character.
Important Care Tips
To preserve the quality of your boots:
Do not machine wash leather boots
Do not submerge boots in water
Avoid harsh chemicals or cleaning agents
Proper care will help ensure your KCM Boots remain comfortable, durable, and stylish for years.
